You've spent the day visiting some of Surrey's most
charming and historic villages, Abinger Hammer, Holmbury
St Mary, Gomshall and Albury, to name but a few. You
finish at Shere, claimed to be the prettiest village in
Surrey. Each are close by. On your return to the rural
setting of Abinger Common, you take a leisurely stroll
through the impeccably kept, 7 acre gardens of Leylands
Farm, equalled only by the greater area to which Leylands
Farm resides; an area of outstanding natural beauty,
famously known as the Surrey Hills.Wandering past the
putting green you greet a flock of doves, resting for a
moment at the Dovecote. You pass by the pond, the summer
house, the herb garden and muse over the ornamental
features. A little further and you reach the home of the
ducks and the chickens, watching as they follow one
another around. Finally, you arrive at the door to the
private, two storey annex to the 19th Century farmhouse,
Leylands Farm. You throw a log in the burner; relax in a
comfortable chair under the oak beams and contemplate the
day. You marvel at how it seems you are worlds apart, and
yet, so conveniently close to the hustle and bustle of
the daily grind...
